The residents of Owerri, Imo State, are voicing growing frustration over the Governor’s unfulfilled promise to establish the Imo State Marketing and Commodity Board.
This initiative, which was supposed to help regulate food prices and mitigate the rising cost of living, has yet to materialize, leaving many families struggling. With the recent fuel subsidy removal leading to higher transportation costs and inflated prices for essential goods, the situation has become even more dire. Citizens had hoped that the creation of market clusters across all local government areas would ease the burden, but more than a year after the Governor’s promise, there’s little progress.
This has led to calls for immediate action from Governor Uzodinma, especially from families like that of Mrs. Adanna Uka, who is struggling to provide for her children due to soaring food prices. The economic hardship, compounded by the lack of action on promised reforms, has left residents disappointed and in urgent need of relief.
Do you think the establishment of the Marketing and Commodity Board could actually help alleviate some of these issues in Imo State?
