NYSC Member Claims Threat from Authorities After Criticizing Tinubu’s Government

Newsie Events:

A serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Lagos has raised concerns over alleged threats from the NYSC board after criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government in a viral TikTok post.

The young woman, who goes by @talktoraye on TikTok, expressed her frustration with Nigeria’s economic struggles, tearing up as she highlighted the skyrocketing cost of living.

In her video, she described the Tinubu administration as “terrible” and accused the government of ignoring the severe economic hardship faced by Nigerians.

She urged that if more citizens spoke out, changes might occur.
“I don’t know if there’s any other president as bad as you, but you are such a terrible president,” she said.

The corps member, who also spoke about the financial struggles she faces on her NYSC allowance, explained that it is not enough to cover basic needs, with prices for essentials continuing to rise.

She recalled buying a crate of eggs for N6,500, a significant increase from the previous N800.

As the video gained attention, she claimed to have received a warning from the NYSC, advising her against making political statements.

The incident has sparked debate among Nigerians about whether corps members should be restricted from voicing opinions on national matters.

In another video shared shortly after, she revealed that NYSC officials had been contacting her, urging her to remove the video and cease her criticism of the government.
