Governor Ortom of Benue State has directed schools to compute Ist and second term results for the promotion of students to the next class because the government has resolved to cancel the third term for primary and secondary school’s curriculum for the 2019/2020 academic session, due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
Professor Dennis Ityavyar who is the commissioner for education Benue state made this known on Tuesday while addressing journalists in the state capital Makurdi.
He noted that Full academic activities for the 2020/2021 session are to commence on September 21, 2020, with instructions to divide each class for morning and evening sessions to create enough room for social distancing among students with strict compliance to COVID-19 protocols.
He also issued a warning to both public and private school administrators against charging parents for third term fees for SS1 and 2, and JSS 1 and 2 respectively.
