The Delta State APC has raised serious concerns regarding the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue’s (DBIR) claim of a 143% revenue generation performance.
The party has questioned the validity and transparency of these claims, suggesting they are part of a broader attempt to disguise the alleged failings of the current state administration under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Valentine Onojeghuo, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Delta, described the reported figures as “bogus” and accused the administration of using them as political rhetoric to deflect attention from widespread corruption and financial mismanagement. The APC called for a clear and verifiable breakdown of how the claimed revenue increase was achieved and how those funds are being used to benefit ordinary citizens of the state.
The opposition party emphasized that without tangible proof and a transparent breakdown, such claims should not be taken seriously. It also raised concerns about the broader fiscal management of the state, pointing to the ongoing investigations into the previous administration’s handling of 13% derivation funds. The APC’s statement reflects a broader critique of the current administration’s economic handling, which they argue prioritizes political interests over the public good.
Finally, the APC urged the state government to move beyond vague claims and present a detailed roadmap for how enhanced revenue generation will directly improve infrastructure, healthcare, education, and job creation for Deltans. The party reiterated its commitment to ensuring the state’s government practices fiscal responsibility and transparency.
