The Arewa Youth Assembly has called on Dangote Refinery to disclose the cost of refining a liter of fuel to ensure transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
This call comes in response to a statement by the Muslims Rights Concern (MURIC), which blamed the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for rising fuel prices and alleged interference with the Dangote refinery.
The Arewa Youth Assembly’s spokesperson, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, criticized MURIC for spreading what he described as false information and accused them of acting out of religious and partisan bias. He also argued that fuel prices are largely influenced by global market forces and not solely by NNPCL. Danlami suggested that the Dangote refinery should be transparent about its production costs, which he estimated exceed N800 per liter, with the landing cost around N1,117.
He urged Dangote Refinery to sell fuel at a lower price if it genuinely cares for Nigerians and criticized MURIC for not verifying its claims.
