On Thursday, banks in the Bwari Area Council and along the airport road in the Federal Capital Territory were closed due to ongoing protests against poor governance.
The protests, which started early in the morning, highlighted issues of hunger and low purchasing power among citizens. Banks including First Bank of Nigeria, Zenith Bank, Polaris, Unity Bank, FCMB, GT Bank, Stanbic IBTC, and UBA were all shut, with security officers barring access.
Customers faced frustration as they were unable to conduct transactions, and many shops and markets were affected by the heightened security and fear of violence. ATM stands were also closed, and a heavy security presence was noted throughout the area.
