Dangote refinery announces further cut in petrol price to N835.

Dangote Refinery has once again reduced the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), bringing it down to N835 per litre from the previous N865. This latest development marks a N30 reduction and reflects the refinery’s continued efforts to ease fuel costs.

In a notice sent out on Wednesday morning, the $20 billion facility communicated the new pricing to its customers. Just six days earlier, the refinery had slashed the ex-depot price to N865 per litre.

As a result of the latest cut, retail partners like MRS filling stations are anticipated to adjust their pump prices accordingly, possibly lowering rates from N940 per litre in the coming days.

This price adjustment comes amid reports from the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria, indicating that marketers have secured regulatory approval to import 117,000 metric tonnes (approximately 156.9 million litres) of petrol between April 8 and 16, 2025. The move is aimed at strengthening fuel supply across the country.

Meanwhile, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association has explained that despite the renewed naira-for-crude agreement between the federal government, Dangote Refinery, and other operators, the price of PMS remains affected by market dynamics such as demand-supply imbalance and foreign exchange depreciation.
