Hardship: Nigerians are angry – Gov. Makinde.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has acknowledged the difficult economic conditions Nigerians are facing, describing them as “hungry and angry.” Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrade of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, he emphasized that his administration would avoid implementing policies that exacerbate citizens’ hardships.

Makinde noted that the state has compensated landowners affected by the construction of a new Air Force Base and stated that while the House passed the Presumptive Tax Bill to boost the economy, its implementation would be postponed for now.

He defended the decision to upgrade the airport to international standards, highlighting its potential to enhance connectivity, attract investments in sectors like agribusiness and technology, and establish Ibadan as a regional business hub. The project, he assured, is backed by data and logic and will be completed within the next year.
