House of Representatives com’ttee on upstream call for a reversal of fuel price hike.

The House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), led by Rep. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, has called for a reversal of the recent fuel price hike, demanding that the Federal Government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. (NNPCL) return to previous pricing. Ado-Doguwa criticized the increase as exploitative and detrimental to Nigerians, especially given current economic hardships.

The committee also pledged to address issues related to crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, which contribute to revenue losses. They plan to collaborate with security agencies and community leaders to secure oil infrastructure.

Ado-Doguwa expressed confidence that ongoing efforts, including the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act and the revival of refineries, will eventually benefit the country. He urged patience with the current administration’s strategies to stabilize the oil and gas sector.
