The Nigerian government is actively working to reduce irregular migration through economic policies and job creation.
During an Anti-Migration Summit, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Bagudu, emphasized that the government recognizes the negative consequences of irregular migration, such as human trafficking and drug peddling.
He highlighted the aim to develop a robust economy, targeting a $2 trillion economy, which would help address the underlying issues driving migration.
The administration’s goal is to ensure that citizens migrate by choice, not necessity, while implementing strategies to boost employment and economic growth.
