Kano anti-corruption commission arrest Kwankwaso,ALGON chairman, others over alleged multi-billion Naira drug supply fraud.

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has made several high-profile arrests related to an alleged multi-billion Naira drug supply fraud.

Among those detained are Garba Musa Kwankwaso, a nephew of presidential candidate Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; Alhaji Mohammed Kabawa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Abdullahi Bashir, Chairman of the Kano State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and Chairman of Tauroni LGA; and Musa Garba Kwankwaso, Managing Director of Novomed Pharmaceuticals.

The allegations involve awarding a contract to Novomed for drug supplies to 38 local governments, for which payments were made but no drugs were delivered. The suspects are reportedly cooperating with the investigation, and the commission is working to uncover the full details of the scam.
