Nigeria is set to receive $27 million as part of a larger $536 million humanitarian aid package from the U.S. Government, aimed at supporting Sub-Saharan Africa. U.S.

Ambassador Richard Mills highlighted that this assistance will address critical needs such as food insecurity and the effects of climate change in Nigeria.

The overall aid, announced by Under Secretary of State Uzra Zeya, totals nearly $3.7 billion for Fiscal Year 2024, targeting vulnerable populations including refugees and internally displaced persons.

The funds for Nigeria will be managed by the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration and USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance.
