NUJ in FCT Abuja raises alarm over cost of living across Nigeria.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has raised important concerns over the rising cost of living across Nigeria, urging the federal government to take urgent action to reverse the trend.

At the union’s first Congress of the year, held in Abuja, discussions focused on the increasing economic burden on citizens, especially in light of the escalating prices of basic goods and services.

The union, led by Grace Ike, also highlighted other pressing issues such as the poor supply of electricity and the ongoing insecurity in parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The lack of reliable power supply is especially concerning for businesses, as it increases operational costs and reduces profit margins, further squeezing the average Nigerian’s finances.

The NUJ FCT Council called on the government to prioritize restoring basic amenities like electricity and water, which are essential for improving the quality of life for citizens and fostering economic growth. The gathering, which included over 400 members and past leaders, emphasized the need for stronger action to address these national challenges.
