The Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee, led by Chief Judge Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, has decided to exclude certain categories of inmates from pardon during its decongestion efforts.
Specifically, the committee will not consider individuals charged with Shila gangsterism, kidnapping, rape, or armed robbery.
This decision was made during a recent visit to Yolde Pate Correctional Centre. The committee’s guidelines explicitly state that those awaiting or standing trial for these offenses will not be eligible for pardon as part of the state’s effort to reduce prison overcrowding.
