Benue community clash: Government moves to takeover for peaceful resolution.

The Benue State government is addressing the ongoing conflict between the Ukpute and Bonta communities, which has led to threats of protests by Igede youth. Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilisation and Empowerment, Hon. Moses Mkeenena, assured that the government is committed to resolving the issue and urged the youths to avoid violence. The government is working towards a peaceful resolution despite the recent escalations.

During a recent meeting, Igede groups led by Comr. Andyson Iji Egbodo submitted a formal protest letter demanding immediate action on the boundary dispute or the creation of a buffer zone to prevent further violence.

They criticized the government’s handling of the crisis and rejected a transport fare offered for their attendance. Comrade Egbodo acknowledged the governor’s previous peace efforts but insisted on more decisive actions to restore peace and prevent a planned protest and press conference intended to draw global attention to the crisis.
