Chairman NOGASA Fatuyi Yemi Philips sentenced to 21 years in prison for defrauding a company of N43.5 million.

The chairman of the Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA), Fatuyi Yemi Philips, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for defrauding a company of N43.5 million.

Philips was convicted by Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court in Lagos for obtaining the money under false pretenses in 2016. He had promised to sell $98,870 to WAPCIL Nigeria Limited, but failed to fulfill the transaction.

Philips was sentenced to 14 years for the first charge and 7 years for the second, with both terms to be served concurrently. Additionally, his company, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, was fined and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $90,202 or its equivalent in naira to the victims.
