There is conflicting information surrounding a recent attack in Benue State, where reports suggest that armed herdsmen may have killed up to 37 people across two local government areas, Logo and Katsina-Ala.
Local government chairmen in the affected areas have reported that at least 30 people were killed, with 10 bodies found in Katsina-Ala and 20 in Logo.
The attack, which began on Sunday and continued into Monday, also saw the destruction of property. Logo LGA Chairman Clement Kav stated that 17 people were killed in Tombo council ward, and 37 others were injured.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, contradicted these claims, stating that only five bodies were recovered from the Logo area.
The discrepancy between the reports from local officials and the police has left the true scale of the attack unclear.
