The Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, has statetd that there will be no security aides attached to Very Important Personalities (VIPs), and Political appointees on election day.
Adamu made this known in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, on Friday, noting that all defaulters would be ‘severely’ reprimanded.
The IGP who earlier deployed senior officials of the force to coordinate security operations in the state, charged officers and men on election duties in the State to ensure they work in line with standard best practices and adhere strictly to the Code of Conduct and Rules of Engagement for elections.
He called on members of the public, particularly politicians, gubernatorial candidates and other relevant stakeholders in the State to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies in guaranteeing a hitch-free gubernatorial poll.
