Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) attempted to arrest former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello at the Kogi Government Lodge in Asokoro on Wednesday night.
According to Bello’s Director of Media, Ohiare Michael, the operatives were reportedly firing shots during the incident.
Michael condemned the action, urging the public to hold the EFCC responsible for any harm that might come to Bello.
He emphasized that the former governor had cooperated with the EFCC earlier in the day but was later targeted for arrest without clear justification. The statement criticized the EFCC’s actions as politically motivated rather than focused on corruption.
