Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has emphasized the need for a violence-free environment during the nationwide protest scheduled for August 1.
Speaking through his Deputy, Kola Adewusi, Adeleke urged all stakeholders, including protest organizers, civil society groups, and security personnel, to ensure that the protest remains peaceful and does not disrupt the state’s tranquility.
The Governor’s statement highlights his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace and harmony in Osun State, and he reiterated that no acts of violence will be tolerated. Both the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Abba, and Brigadier General Abdul Kareem Aliyu, GOC Engineering Construction Regiment, Ede, echoed these sentiments, stressing the importance of orderliness during the protest.
The State Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, clarified that the meeting was intended to promote a peaceful protest, not to provide financial incentives to the organizers.
