The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested an ex-convict, Iliayasu Mohammed, for allegedly murdering his friend, Safillahi Muhammad, in Dakwa, Abuja.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrest followed a distress call about a suspected homicide in Dantata Village.
Police officers swiftly responded to the scene, where they apprehended the suspect.
Investigations revealed that Mohammed had lured the victim to his home, served him food, and then attacked him with a cutlass while he was eating, inflicting severe injuries on his head and body.
Further inquiries exposed Mohammed’s criminal past and his connection to a gang led by a fugitive named Hassan. This group is notorious for attacking motorcyclists to steal their vehicles.
Authorities are currently tracking down other gang members who are on the run, while Mohammed is set to face charges in court after the investigation concludes.
