Human rights activist Comrade Osita Obi has raised alarm over the increasing number of missing persons in Anambra State. Speaking at a press conference in Awka, Obi emphasized that disappearances, including kidnappings, have become disturbingly common, with no significant actions taken by authorities. He highlighted the cases of three prominent individuals: businessman Benjamin Ezemma, House of Assembly member Hon. Justice Azuka, and Labour Party candidate Obiora Agbasimalo, all of whom went missing at different times without any trace or resolution.

Obi specifically expressed concern over the disappearance of Ezemma, who went missing on November 12. He urged both state and federal authorities, including the police, DSS, and NSA, to take immediate action to locate him. Obi also questioned the effectiveness of national data collection programs like SIM and NIN registration, suggesting that they could be used to track down missing persons.

While acknowledging the efforts of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Anambra, Obi criticized the police for their perceived incompetence, especially with regard to handling such critical cases. He called for better police performance, warning that continued neglect could lead to public protests.
