Dino Melaye, a former Nigerian senator, has reacted to the recent ruling by the Federal Capital Territory High Court, which remanded former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello in Kuje Correctional Centre.
This decision relates to Bello’s involvement in a N110 billion money laundering case filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The court adjourned hearings in the case to later dates in 2024.
In his reaction, Melaye expressed satisfaction over the development, stating on his official social media handle that he had predicted six years ago that Bello would end up in prison. He further mocked the former governor, noting that he would now spend Christmas in jail. Melaye’s comment reflects his long-standing criticism of Bello, with a belief that the former governor’s legal troubles were inevitable.
