The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is investigating an incident where a woman, Mrs. Igiebor, destroyed her husband’s Nigerian passport at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos.
The event, which occurred on August 10, 2024, was captured on video and has gone viral on social media.
The NIS noted that such actions might violate Section 10(b) of the Immigration Act 2015, which forbids the willful destruction of Nigerian travel documents and prescribes specific penalties.
The service emphasized its commitment to upholding national security and the integrity of Nigeria’s legal instruments.
