The Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations (JOHESU/AHPA) has condemned the abduction of Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, a Registrar at the National Eye Centre in Kaduna, which took place on December 27, 2023.
JOHESU/AHPA criticized the growing trend of kidnappings, asserting that it threatens healthcare delivery and endangers healthcare workers.
The union expressed support for the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors’ (NARD) ongoing strike in response to the kidnapping and urged both federal and state authorities to enhance security measures to address the rising threat of kidnappings and other crimes.
