The abducted students from Government Science Secondary School in the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina have all been released according to a news report by SaharaReporters.
Sources that spoke to SR said the students are currently on their way home having spent six days in the kidnappers’ den.
The incident happened last Friday when Gunmen on motorbikes invaded the school premises around 11 pm, shooting in the air to scare residents, after which they abducted over 300 students.
The Shekou faction of Boko Haram had on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the attack.
Announcing their release, the source said;
“They are on their way to Katsina, the military finalised the negotiations with them, they will be received by the governor anytime from now.”
The Director-General of Media to Governor Masari, Abdu Labaran, when contacted said, “I can’t say yes or no, but we have gone beyond discussions with the bandits for now. We are expecting the governor to address a world press conference soon.”
