Justice Nyako adjourn trial of Nnamdi Kanu in Abuja high court.

The trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been indefinitely adjourned by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The trial had been stalled after Kanu requested that Nyako recuse herself, citing a lack of confidence in her ability to preside over the case.

In response, Justice Nyako issued a recusal order on September 24, 2024, and returned the case file to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, John Tsoho. However, Tsoho subsequently returned the file to Nyako for the trial to continue.

Kanu is facing terrorism charges brought by the Federal Government and has been in detention since his controversial re-arrest in Kenya in 2021.
