In Ondo State’s Akoko area, a group of women staged a protest to address severe security issues, including recent killings and kidnappings by suspected herdsmen. Some protesters were partially dressed as a symbol of their distress.
The demonstration followed the murder of a local farmer, Sunday Ayeni, who was found dead after a dispute with herdsmen. The community has faced frequent attacks, leading farmers to abandon their lands out of fear.
The women, led by Mrs. Abigail Ojo, called for justice and better security measures. The Olubaka of Oka, Adebori Adeleye, acknowledged the problem and assured that security efforts are underway.
