Lawyers in mgbidi, oguta in Imo state shutdown appeal court over killing of their colleague.

The recent killing of lawyer Chinedu Nwowu has sent shockwaves through the legal community in Imo State, with lawyers in Mgbidi, Oguta, and Omumma shutting down courts in protest. Nwowu was reportedly shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday evening in his hometown of Mgbidi. The motive behind the killing remains unclear.

In response, the Orlu Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has announced an emergency meeting to address the tragic event. The meeting is being held at the Mgbidi High Court, and as a mark of respect, courts in the affected areas have been suspended for the day. The police have yet to comment on the incident.

This act of solidarity by the legal community underscores the gravity of the situation, and it is likely to spark further discussions around security for professionals in the region.
