Local vigilantes, personal securities stop bandit from attacking bakori LG in Katsina state.

Armed bandits attempted an attack on Bakori Local Government Area, Katsina State, but were thwarted by security personnel and local vigilantes.

The bandits attempted to break into the residence of the local government chairman late on Sunday night in the Sanyi neighborhood of Bakori town.

They failed in their attempt, and while they also targeted another residence, quick response from security forces and local vigilantes led to their retreat.

However, it was reported that the attackers managed to kidnap a cattle trader, Auwalu, and his wife from the outskirts of the town, the Nasarawa neighborhood. This incident marks the first time that such an attack has occurred within the heart of Bakori town, as bandits typically target more rural areas.

Unfortunately, attempts to reach the Katsina State Police Command for further details were unsuccessful.

Katsina, as highlighted, has been a hotspot for banditry in northwest Nigeria, with such incidents creating continued unrest in both rural and urban areas.
