In 2024, the Kano Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) rescued 285 human trafficking victims, including 78 males, 97 females, and 110 children, aged between 7 and 42 years. Among them, 53 were victims of trafficking, while the remaining 232 were survivors of sexual abuse, gender-based violence, and other forms of exploitation. The agency also secured 15 convictions, apprehended 22 traffickers, and handled 211 cases involving human trafficking.
Additionally, the command conducted 88 sensitization programs to raise awareness about the dangers of human trafficking. They also profiled 720 migrant returnees from Niger Republic, cautioning Nigerians against dangerous overseas journeys. The command empowered 52 survivors with kits and emphasized the need for public vigilance in reporting suspicious trafficking activities.
