Nigerian lawmakers have formally petitioned the Canadian government, seeking the prosecution of Amaka Sunnberger for threats made against Yoruba and Edo people.
The petition, addressed to James Christoff and dated August 28, 2024, was signed by Biodun Omoleye and Tochukwu Okere. It accuses Sunnberger of making inflammatory remarks on TikTok about poisoning Yoruba and Edo people, which the lawmakers argue constitutes a breach of Canadian hate speech laws under Section 319(1).
They have requested an investigation, prosecution, and public condemnation of her actions by the Canadian government.
