The Nigerian Police Force, through its Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has issued a stern warning to the public regarding the consequences of buying or receiving stolen items.

Adejobi referenced Section 427 of the Criminal Code Act, which defines receiving stolen goods as a felony punishable by law.

According to this section, anyone who knowingly possesses, conceals, or deals with stolen property can face severe penalties, including imprisonment for up to fourteen years for felonies or seven years for other offences.

Adejobi emphasized that receiving stolen property is a serious criminal offence and urged Nigerians to exercise caution, advising against acquiring or keeping items whose origins are uncertain.

He highlighted the potential risks involved, stating that such actions could result in imprisonment.

This warning serves as a reminder to the public to be vigilant and refrain from engaging in transactions involving items of questionable origin to avoid legal consequences.
