The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the immediate withdrawal of police personnel from the 23 local government areas in Rivers State, as announced by the State Commissioner of Police, Bala Mustapha. This decision comes in response to recent political developments and aims to uphold the neutrality of the Nigeria Police Force in supporting democratic processes.
The police emphasized that personnel will only be redeployed if there is a crisis or breakdown of law and order. The Rivers State Command reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining peace and urged the public to remain calm and law-abiding during this transition.
