Police prosecutor arraign two drugs suspect to court in Ekiti

In Ekiti State, two individuals have been brought before the courts on separate charges. Sodiq Adebayo, aged 44, was arraigned for allegedly possessing Indian hemp in Ikere Ekiti.

The police prosecutor stated that he committed an offence under the Indian Hemp Act and requested bail, which was granted at N50,000 with a surety.

Divine Lapkur, aged 19, faced charges related to burglary, accused of breaking into a residence and stealing clothes valued at N150,000.

The prosecutor sought remand at a correctional center pending legal advice, but the magistrate ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction for the burglary charge. Lapkur was remanded pending the Director of Public Prosecution’s legal advice, with the case adjourned till August 14 for further proceedings.
