Police Service Commission approved the promotion of 27 senior officers in NPF.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 27 senior officers in the Nigeria Police Force. This includes 11 Commissioners of Police who have been elevated to Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) who have been promoted to substantive Commissioners of Police (CPs).

The promotion was announced during the PSC’s 2nd plenary meeting, with the officers undergoing both written and oral examinations on December 16, 2024. This process is now a mandatory requirement for all promotions within the Nigeria Police Force, as emphasized by the Commission Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu.

The promoted AIGs include:

1. Umar Shehu Nadada – Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State
2. Mustapha Mohammed Bala – Commissioner of Police, Rivers State
3. Abayomi Peter Oladipo – Commissioner of Police, Ondo State
4. Taiwo Olatunde Adeleke – Commissioner of Police, SWAT, FCID, Abuja
5. Ibrahim Abdullahi, mni – Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State
6. Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka – Commissioner of Police, PPP, DLS, Force Headquarters, Abuja
7. Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, mni – Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State
8. Zubairu Abubakar – Commissioner of Police, Courses, Police Staff College, Jos
9. Fom Pam Joseph, psc(+) – Commissioner of Police, Homicide, FCID, Abuja
10. Emuobo Fred Ekokotu, fdc – Commissioner of Police, Admin, Airwing, Abuja
11. Garba Musa Yusuf – Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College, Jos

The promotion process, chaired by DIG Taiwo Lakanu, reflects the Commission’s ongoing commitment to merit-based promotions. DIG Lakanu also advised the newly promoted officers to demonstrate unwavering dedication to their new roles, ensuring they continue to serve with the utmost commitment and excellence. The PSC emphasized that it will maintain its focus on ensuring timely and merit-based promotions for officers within the force.
