School carnival: police detain principal of Islamic High School in Ibadan, Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, over tragic stampede that causes death of 32 children.

The principal of Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan, Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, has been detained by the Oyo State Police in connection with a tragic stampede that occurred during a children’s carnival on Wednesday. The incident, which took place at the school, resulted in the deaths of at least 32 children.

The carnival was organized by Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ile-Ife. Fasasi was invited to the police station at around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, where he was detained upon arrival. He is currently being held at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the Iyaganku area.

At the time of reporting, Fasasi had not been released, and no further details regarding his involvement in the incident have been disclosed.
