Terrorists allegedly killed four police officers in Zamfara State’s Bungudu Local Government Area.
The slain officers were reportedly at a checkpoint along Bungudu-Gusau Road when the terrorists ambushed and opened fire on them.
Confirming the incident in a tweet reported by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) on Tuesday, Zamfara State Police Command spokesperson Yazid Abubakar said the security personnel were ambushed by the terrorists while on a stop-and-search patrol along the road.
“Three of the late policemen were officers of the command, while the other one was a constabulary,” he confirmed.
He further maintained that the unfortunate incident would not deter the command from its renewed commitment to achieving lasting peace in Zamfara.
