Following continuous claims by the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari that the kankara abduction was carried out by the local bandits, the Abubakar Shekau-led faction of Boko Haram has released a video showing students purportedly kidnapped from Government Science Secondary School in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
In the four-minute video obtained from SaharaReporters, the schoolboys could be seen in the background with some of them that were allowed to speak, asked the government or any vigilante or security arrangement they are making to come to rescue them, not to come because that will put them in danger.
One said‘” you cannot do anything to them, please sir, send back all the jets, vigilantes and the armies, send them back, we need your assistance,” he said amid tears
Recall that Gunmen had on December 11 invaded the government science school, shooting into the air to scare away people in the area.
Governor Masari, as of December 13, said over 300 students were confirmed missing.
President Buhari’s aide, Garuba Shehu, countered Masari’s claims, saying there were only 10 students, only to come back and said he did not investigate well, before making his assertion.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Shekau, in a four-minute video, said that Boko Haram, whose ideology is against western education, carried out the abduction of the Katsina schoolboys to discourage Unislamic ways of life.
However, on Wednesday, while speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Masari rejects the video, insisting it was bandits that are responsible for the incident.
Finally, in six minutes and 30 seconds long video released by Boko Haram on Thursday, hundreds of other young boys could be seen behind Shekau, all covered in dust.
Thousands of People in the North-West states have either been killed or injured since January 2019. Others have also lost their livelihoods due to the prevalent insecurity situation in the region.
