Some schools in Abia State have ignored the government’s directive to resume the 2024/2025 academic session on September 23rd, leading to potential sanctions against them and their principals.
Commissioner for Information Okey Kanu expressed concern over this disobedience during a briefing following the State Executive Council meeting. He emphasized the government’s commitment to establishing a strong regulatory framework in the education sector and announced that the Ministry of Education would investigate the non-compliant schools.
Additionally, Kanu mentioned the government’s efforts to recover public lands that have been illegally taken over by private individuals, religious organizations, and community groups. The committee involved in this recovery process is actively working to reclaim these lands.
