ASUU Jos chapter raises alarm about victimization of it’s members in public universities.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Jos Chapter, has raised concerns about the ongoing victimization of its members across several Nigerian public universities.

Prof. Jurbe Molwus, the union’s chairperson at the University of Jos, highlighted instances of illegal terminations, suspensions, denied promotions, and withheld salaries affecting members at institutions such as Lagos State University, Kogi State University, Ebonyi State University, Ambrose Alli University, Federal University of Technology Owerri, and Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.

Molwus criticized the actions of various university administrations and state governments, particularly noting that the victimization often stems from union members’ stances on administrative issues or academic standards. He attributed the ongoing brain drain in Nigerian universities to these practices and called on the judiciary to expedite justice for affected ASUU members.
