The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has suspended Mr. Adeniyi Olutayo Ayodele, Head Teacher of St.
Philips CAC Nursery and Primary School, for two months due to illegal fee collection. Prof. Femi Akinwumi, SUBEB’s Executive Chairman, stated that Ayodele admitted to the charges and continued the practice despite warnings, violating the state’s free and compulsory education policy.
Ayodele was found to have collected N25,000 from each of 28 primary six pupils and N8,000 from primary four pupils. He is required to return the funds to the pupils’ parents and report to the SUBEB headquarters during his suspension.
This action aims to deter other educators from similar infractions and underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining free education.
