Funmi Ogun, the former State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, has sharply criticized Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s handling of the state’s education policy.
In a recent statement, Ogun accused the governor of deceitfully presenting the state’s education system as free while schools continue to impose significant fees.
She specifically condemned the recent increase in boarding fees to N90,000, plus a facility fee of N10,000, calling it both excessive and indicative of insensitivity to the economic hardships faced by Nigerians. Ogun argued that this increase undermines the claim of free education and urged the governor to be more transparent with the public.
Additionally, she mentioned that the PDP is focusing on internal reconciliation and mobilization in preparation for the 2026 governorship election.
