The new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, has emphasized the necessity of computer literacy for civil servants.
She made this announcement in Abuja while overseeing the Confirmatory Promotional Examination (COMPRO), which was conducted for public servants in 45 centers nationwide. Walson-Jack highlighted that computer skills are essential for modern civil service operations and that those lacking these skills will find it challenging to remain relevant.
The federal government is working to align the civil service with global standards, and Walson-Jack stressed that those who are not yet computer literate must quickly adapt. The examination, administered with the help of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), included 12,444 candidates from various sectors including para-military.
Represented by Mr. Raymond Omachi, Permanent Secretary Common Services Office, Walson-Jack expressed satisfaction with the examination process, noting that it was transparent and efficient. Mrs. Funmilola B-Usman of JAMB also praised the initiative and the candidates’ readiness, affirming that the process was smooth and the candidates were well-prepared.
