The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has recently highlighted issues with the University of Calabar’s graduation list, revealing that a bread seller was improperly included for national service.
The NYSC has demobilized 54 graduates from the university who were illegally mobilized to prevent the issuance of National Service Certificates to unqualified individuals. This action follows the invalidation of 101 certificates from the university’s 2021-2023 batches.
NYSC Director General Brigadier-General Yusha’u Ahmed praised University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Florence Obi for her efforts in identifying and reporting these irregularities. The NYSC plans to strengthen collaboration with educational institutions and stakeholders to ensure the integrity of the mobilization process and has urged employers to verify the authenticity of NYSC certificates presented for job placements.
