The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University has clarified that the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Carol Umobi, was not invited by the House of Representatives Committee on Tertiary Education due to any alleged project mismanagement.
The Committee had visited the university and found some submitted documents unsatisfactory, leading them to invite Prof. Umobi and other university officials for further clarification.
According to Dr. Emmanuel C. Ojukwu, the Special Adviser to the Vice Chancellor on Information and Public Relations, the projects under scrutiny were initiated before Prof. Umobi’s appointment.
She was appointed on July 22, 2024, and has not initiated any new projects due to her short tenure. Prof. Umobi has pledged full cooperation with the Committee to ensure transparency and uphold good governance.
