The Federal Government has initiated the distribution of 10 trucks of 50kg rice to each state, priced at N40,000 per bag, to mitigate poverty and the high cost of living. This action is part of a broader effort by the government to address grievances and counter protests planned for August 1.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) emphasized that many of the protesters’ demands are being met, including efforts to make food more affordable and support students through loans. President Bola Tinubu has expressed commitment to addressing these issues directly, arguing that the planned protest is unnecessary given the government’s ongoing actions and interventions.
In addition to food distribution, the government is investing in agriculture and irrigation to reduce food prices in the long term. There is also a focus on providing student loans and creating employment opportunities through various programs. The administration is working on other initiatives, such as the CNG conversion project, to further address economic challenges.
