The Ekiti State Ministry of Health is rallying stakeholders to boost malaria awareness and education across communities. At a quarterly meeting, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, called for a united effort to enhance grassroots malaria interventions, particularly for children, pregnant women, and all residents. He emphasized the importance of personal and environmental hygiene in the fight against malaria.
Mrs. Olusola Gbenga-Igotun, the Permanent Secretary, underscored malaria’s impact as a major health threat, advocating for a comprehensive approach to combat it. Discussions with various community leaders, including market leaders and religious figures, focused on strategies to reduce malaria incidence.
Mrs. Hope Okoboh from the National Malaria Elimination Programme highlighted the persistent high prevalence of malaria in Nigeria and urged stakeholders to intensify community education on the use of insecticidal nets and other preventive measures.
