The Ogun State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has decided to suspend its 25-day strike for four weeks.
This decision was made to mitigate the impact on patients and to facilitate negotiations with the state government. Dr. Ogunjimi Luqman, the association’s chairman, announced that doctors will resume work on Monday, September 2, 2024.
The suspension will allow time for discussions regarding the implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS), which has been pending since June 2023.
The NMA plans to reassess the situation on September 30, 2024, to determine the next steps based on the government’s response.
