The Enugu State Government has issued a 90-day ultimatum to churches, clubs, and relaxation centers to comply with a new anti-noise pollution policy starting November 15, 2024.
The policy aims to address widespread noise issues in Enugu by banning open-air music performances, roadside parking, and loud gatherings in residential areas.
Chief Uche Anya of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA) emphasized that the goal is to create a quieter, more serene environment, urging stakeholders to remove outdoor public address systems and adopt soundproofing measures.
The policy is intended to enhance residents’ quality of life and address related problems such as drug abuse and public disturbances.
